HILLMORTON CHILD, ADOLESCENT, AND YOUTH FACILITY

A unique project completed in two stages over an 18-month duration.
During Stage 1, W&E were involved in significant strengthening of the existing building, formerly the Hillmorton Laundry Services facility. The strengthening work involved a vast quantity of cast-in drag beams, drag struts, truss-brackets and doublers, bracing systems, and concrete connection brackets.

Stage 2 represented a challenge of a different nature, with W&E engaged to fabricate and install several architectural features – most prominent of which were the three entrance canopies. These canopies were fabricated from rolled PFC sections, with pipe columns and branches. With the canopies intended to reflect the asymmetry found in nature, detailing and fabrication presented several challenges, not to mention the care and attention required to transform structural sections into architectural components.

With a long track record of working with Hann Construction in the completion of various other projects, most often schools, Hann had the confidence to undertake this project with our assistance.
