CANTERBURY MUSEUM

Welding & Engineering were engaged to complete strengthening works to multiple buildings, which focused on support frames to provide pre-demolition construction phase stability to heritage components within the Mountfort building and Centennial Wing, as well as lifting beams for the Robert McDougal Gallery.

This project was a joint venture between Leigh’s and March Construction, with W&E engaged directly by Leigh’s to assist with their component of the works.

The development project utilised multiple structural engineers to cover the extensive scope of works, with W&E completing works designed by all parties. This presented challenges with respect to multiple structural specifications being ‘in play’, with often drastically different material and quality control requirements.
